About Nerikō (Kneaded Incense):
Finely powdered aromatic ingredients are kneaded with honey or plum pulp, then aged in a jar to mature into a rounded, mellow fragrance.
Referenced in Heian-period literature as takimono, nerikō remains cherished today in kōdō (the art of incense) and tea gatherings.
