Marbeth Schon, in Form and Function, American Modernist Jewelry 1940-1970 states: “Perhaps none of the modernist jewelers working in New York after World War II was so well loved and respected as Ed Wiener” “(H)e possessed a magnificant appreciation of form, line, and color.” In 1947 Wiener opened a store in New York and was in business until 1981. According to Schon, until 1966 Wiener worked primarily in silver, but after a trip to India and France in the mid-1960’s he became interested in working with gold because of its warmth.This necklace is a wonderful example of Wiener\'s work in silver, with its elegant lines accented by a cultured pearl.
