In the 1970s and 1980s, thousands of runners in France, Belgium, Switzerland, and the United States wore the Spiridon T-shirt as a sign of their belonging to this movement which defended a new philosophy of running: free, joyful, supportive, generous and above all open to women.

* Michèle Miéville: serving the cause of women who run

Born in the mountains, Michèle Miéville was living in Les Marécottes, in the Valais region of Switzerland, when the editor-in-chief of Spiridon magazine decided to settle in Salvan, a neighboring village. A natural athlete and fluent in English, Michèle quickly offered her services to the magazine\'s editor. She served as his interpreter during the 1976 visit of Jim Davis, the head of New Balance. And again the following year, when Tamini hosted Fred Lebow, the organizer of the New York City Marathon. Shortly afterward, Spiridon took 38 runners to the Corrida de São Silvestre in São Paulo, and Michèle was, of course, there.
