It has aged character throughout: surface marks, shrinkage lines, color variation, and scattered dings appropriate to an antique pine chest. Finish variation between older box & newer stand (the contrast is part of the layered-cottage look). Lid opens and closes smoothly; interior clean. Structurally sturdy—made to live with, not tiptoe around.
