Detailed information on Shimmering Night Necklace

Twinkling and sparkly, the Shimmering Night Necklace combines a lovely piece of druzy Amethyst with my ten-point star design for a simple, lightweight necklace.

A druzy is a type of mineral formation that occurs when water containing dissolved silica enters a cavity in the larger mineral (stone) and evaporates, leaving behind a layer of tiny crystals on the surface. Derived from the German word \"drusen,\" which means \"to form into small parts,\" they often can occur on quartz, agate, and amethyst (among others).

I create the ten-point star design by hand-sawing two star forms, arranging, and soldering them together.

This necklace hangs on a 16\" to 18\" adjustable sterling silver chain.
