The St George Frame references an enduring figure in European visual history, shaped by Greek and Eastern Mediterranean culture.

Traditionally appearing in relief work and medallion jewellery, St George became a symbol of strength and resilience carried through form rather than ceremony. The piece is informed in part by Greek heritage on my mum’s side, where this imagery was familiar within family heirlooms.

The custom frame draws from Baroque-inspired European design, with sculpted edges and softened detailing that echo mid-century jewellery.

Layered with the Mediterranean olive stone, The stone takes its colour directly from the olives found across Mediterranean tables — passed around with bread, wine, and conversation. A colour tied to gathering. Together, the stack references a European tradition from the 1940s–1960s, when crosses and gemstones were worn as personal tokens of identity.
